In April, we experienced a new-found fiery intensity and passion for leaping into an era of change. With the dawn of a new month, May has us pumping the brakes, introspecting, and experiencing revelations. In this post, I'm sharing what you need to know about 4 ingresses, 2 cazimis, and 2 retrogrades. There are 16 other aspect-related astrological events, plus the regular moon ingresses (every 2-3 days), and Sun entering Gemini. Get ready because it's time to connect to the cosmos of the May 2026 Astrology!
Mercury Enters Taurus
Welcome to May with Mercury starting off the major astrology through an ingress into Taurus. The planet of communication enters the Fixed Earth Sign on May 2nd at 11:57pm EST. Taurus is represented by the bull, and ruled by Venus. As Mercury enters this luxurious realm of our lives, we can expect slower speech and information processing, focus on comfort and sensations, and resistance to change. The last time this transit took place was May 10th through 25th of 2025, if you're looking for an indicator of what it may bring. Mercury won't be here long though because in just a couple weeks it'll enter Gemini. Enjoy the mental relaxation while it lasts and try turning your attention towards the simple joys in life!
Pluto Retrograde in Aquarius Begins
We're venturing from the innermost personal planet to the outermost collective planet: Pluto. On May 6th at 11:34am EST the planet of power and transformation Stations Retrograde at 5º30' of Aquarius. In January, the Pre-Shadow period began, and it took four months for Pluto to completely slow to a halt. The next leg of this journey in the Fixed Air Sign involves retracing 5º30' back through 3º04' of Aquarius. Pluto Retrogrades are synonymous with introspection regarding power dynamics and control issues. Therefore, from now until October 15th we are being called to master our ability to release. For an idea of what Pluto Retrogrades in Aquarius are like, we can look back to the most recent one from May 4th to October 13th of 2025 between 3º49’ and 1º22’ of Aquarius.
Mercury Cazimi in Taurus
For our first Cazimi of the month, Mercury conjoins the Sun on May 14th at 10:24am EST. These days are ones to circle on your calendar because they offer the promise of clear-mindedness, epiphanies, and smooth communication. The 23rd degree point of Taurus will be illuminated inspired ideas, so be sure to find the corresponding House in your Natal Chart. When Mercury Cazimis occur in Taurus, this energy is channeled through slower, but clarified conversations, a call towards the comforts of our five senses, and thoughtful practicality. The last Mercury Cazimi was on January 21st while it was moving in direct motion. For the last one in Taurus, go back to May 1, 2023. Both of these dates will provide a reference for us to project just how the light will shine on us!
Mercury Enters Gemini
We're still talking about Mercury? As I teased earlier in this post, the messenger planet speeds through Taurus in just a couple weeks and works its way through the Mutable Air Sign over the rest of this month. The Mercury ingress occurs on May 17th at 6:27am EST, and it'll leave Gemini on June 1st! Keeping to the present, the sign of the twins is one the homes of Mercury and therefore is utterly elated to venture through this area of our chart, especially after the slow down in Taurus. We can expect enhanced and increased communication, an appetite for learning and gossip, and the ability to hold multiple ideas and perspectives simultaneously. Flip your calendar and/or journal back to May 25th through June 8th of last year for an outline of how the rest of May could pan out.
Mars Enters Taurus
Less than 12 hours after Mercury leaves Taurus, Mars bursts on the scene! Unfortunately for the planet of action, it absolutely despises spending time here because it's the sign of its detriment, where it feels disrespected and agitated. Think of it this way: Mars wants to move fast and Taurus loves to move slowly. It's as if Mars is sludging its way through the mud at a spa. On May 18th at 6:26pm EST we'll be experiencing amped up stubbornness and tension around trying new things, comfort-centric actions, and determination for achieving and maintaining material gains. For the 2026 version, the uncomfortable deceleration hobbles along until June 28th.
Venus Enters Cancer
The planet of love will be the first personal planet this year to reach the second Cardinal Sign of the zodiac: Cancer. Venus join Jupiter in Cancer on May 18th at 9:06pm EST. These two benefic planets will be co-present unto June, with Venus transiting the Cardinal Water Sign from May 18th to June 13th and Jupiter exiting a couple weeks later on June 30th. Both on both of those Leo ingresses next month! Bringing it back to the peace-bringer, a Venus in Cancer transits is known for calling forth increased support for emotional intimacy, caretaking tendencies, openness to self-care, and a desire for coziness. The last time this transit occurred was July 30th thru August 25th of 2025. Uranus Post-Shadow, Cazimi, and Pre-Shadow in Gemini
The last couple weeks of May features a sequences of transition points for the plant of radical change. First up, Uranus finally concludes its 2025 Retrograde cycle on May 21st at 1:54pm EST when it reaches 1º27' of Gemini. For more on this Post-Shadow Period, hop on back to my February 2026 blog post. It's a great time to briefly reflect on what you've changed, innovated, or rebelled against since September 9, 2025, when Uranus first stationed Retrograde.
Similar to what Neptune experienced back in March, Uranus will not be freed from Retrograde energy for long. Before we get there though, let's focus on the positives! Uranus has its first Cazimi Day in Gemini the very next day after exiting its Post-Shadow Period. On May 22nd at 10:26am EST Uranus conjoins the Sun at 1º Gemini. These days are ones to circle on our calendar because Uranus Cazimis have a penchant for sudden shake-ups, liberation, and excitement around making real change. With this energetic burst occurring In Gemini, we can expect new language and discourse to emerge from left field, innovation in modes of transportation, and/or momentary reprieve from global conflict via diplomacy (yaaay!).
A mere 3 days later Uranus reenters the cloud of its annual Retrograde by slinking into a Pre-Retrograde Shadow Period. When Uranus moves to 1º40' of Gemini (yes, literally a fraction of a degree from where it exited the Post-Shadow) the next cycle begins. This transit happens on May 25th at 7:02am EST and endures until Uranus Stations Retrograde on September 10th at 5º41' Gemini. Due pay attention to what arises during this phase of the Retrograde Cycle because it will likely be revisited! Note: the last Uranus Pre-Shadow Period was from May 20th to September 6th of 2025 between 27º28’ of Taurus and 1º28’ of Gemini.
