After a slower December (wow did we need those Retrogrades to end!), it's time to kick off the new year! During January, we are running head-first into multiple new chapters and big transformative moments. In this post, I'm sharing what you need to know about 5 ingresses, 3 cazimis, and 3 conjunction transits. There are 85 other aspect-related astrological events, plus the regular moon ingresses (every 2-3 days), and Sun entering Aquarius. Get ready because it's time to connect to the cosmos of the January 2026 Astrology!

Mercury Enters Capricorn
The very first transit we're going to talk about for the New Year is Mercury entering Capricorn on January 1st at 4:11 PM EST! The planet of communication, travel, information, and technology is transiting the Cardinal Earth Sign, which it has not moved through since January 8th – 27th of 2025 (a little less than one year ago). You can look back at this time to gain an understanding of what may come up for you in the present day, including: what you're thinking, about talking about, and interested in grasping. Capricorn is represented by the sea goat in the Zodiac and is ruled by Saturn. It thrives on structure, responsibility, and personal ambition. Therefore, with Mercury in this Sign, we can expect increased focus, planning, pragmatism, and an interest or compulsion to set new boundaries or maintain existing ones. Don't get too comfortable here though because Mercury will exit Capricorn on January 20th. More on that later in this post!
Venus Cazimi in Capricorn
Next up we have the Venus Cazimi popping up in the same sign just a few days later on January 6th at 11:35am EST. When the planet of love, harmony, relationships, and money reaches 16° of Capricorn, it conjoins the Sun. A Conjunction in Astrology is when two celestial bodies are 0° apart (in other words they're at the same degree point in the same Sign). A Cazimi takes that criteria and narrows the scope because it refers to a conjunction specifically with the Sun. These days are illuminated with and supercharged by life force energy. Venus Cazimis in particular are known for encouraging flow, ease, creativity, and supportive relationship dynamics. The most recent Venus Cazimi happened on March 22, 2025 in Aries, for a short-term refresher. The last time we had a Venus Cazimi is in Capricorn though was on January 8, 2022. That day becomes our benchmark. Generally, we can expect to honor our boundaries, infuse an artistic flair while pursuing our endeavors, and an emphasis on our most mutually beneficial partnerships. This energy only lasts for a short time so if you'd like to leverage it for creative expression or boundary-setting in your relationships, do so as close after its peak as possible!
Mars Cazimi in Capricorn
Mars also reaches the heart of the Sun just three days later. This timing tells you that Mars and Venus are also very close in the sky to one another. Mars conjoins the Sun on January 9th at 6:40am EST at 19° of Capricorn. For reference, the last Mars Cazimi happened in the sign of Scorpio on November 18, 2023. To refer back to the last one in Capricorn, we have to go all the way back to December 26, 1993! Mars Cazimis are known for inspiring new and bold action, will and courage, and impassioned motivation. In Capricorn (where Mars is exalted), we can expect milestone achievements, a fiery work ethic, and ambitious spark to compete. Harness the energy of this day to drive your goals forward and even lend some much needed momentum towards addressing obstacles you've been struggling against.
Venus Enters Aquarius
We're back talking about Venus yet again! After basking in the glow of the Sun, 11 days later (January 17th), it enters the Fixed Air Sign of Aquarius at 7:44am EST. The last time Venus transited this Sign was December 7, 2024 through January 2, 2025, so be sure to use that period as your reference point. Aquarius is represented by the waterbearer, and ruled by Saturn & Uranus. With Venus here, we can expect increased support for the collective and underdog, crafting innovative systems, and finding joy in the surprises of life. Venus will be moving through Aquarius until February 10th; savor the next three to four weeks of infusing the Aquarian area of your Natal Chart with levity, relaxation, and creativity!
Pluto Conjoins Venus, Mercury, and Mars in Aquarius
All three of the innermost planets (known as the personal planets), which we've discussed thus far have had a pretty active January. And they're not done yet! In sequence, Venus, Mercury, and Mars each conjoin Pluto, which is crawling its way through Aquarius over the next 18 years. Pluto represents power and transformation, while Aquarius is the structure-oriented humanitarian. Learn more about this ingress by heading over to by November 2024 blog post.
First up in the succession of Pluto hellos is Venus conjoining Pluto at 3° of Aquarius on January 19th at 11:04pm EST. The last Venus and Pluto conjunction was in this same sign on December 7, 2024. Venus-Pluto conjunctions are known for eliciting obsessive tendencies, intensity in relationship roles, and trigger insecurities to bubble to the surface. In Aquarius, we critically assess our relationships for improvement, seek intellectual balance, and stability in our communities. A few days later on January 22nd at 12:14pm EST, Mercury reaches 3° of Aquarius. Mercury-Pluto Conjunctions are known for depth of thought, suspicion of others’motivations, and provocative or manipulative communication. On this day, we can expect these dynamics to infuse curiosity for introspection, mental acuity, and identify security in our discourse. Note: the last Mercury-Pluto Conjunctions took place on January 29, 2025, also in Aquarius.
Finally we have Mars conjoining Pluto on January 27th at 6:01am EST at the same degree point. Mars-Pluto Conjunctions are known to elicit intense determination, taking on challenges, and resentment & assertiveness in the face of authority. In Aquarius, we can anticipate a motivation to be reborn, taking intentional action stemming from a deep place, and pursuing new structures. The most recent Mars-Pluto Conjunction happened on February 14, 2024, in case you'd like to look back. Combined, these three January conjunctions ask us to focus on and channel our energy intensely into this area of our chart – don't miss the lessons!
Mercury Enters Aquarius & Cazimi
Mercury is back in the spotlight with its second ingress of the month, entering Aquarius on January 20th at 11:42am EST. The last time it traveled through the Fixed Air Sign was January 7th through February 14th of 2025. With Mercury here, we can expect increased intellectual processing, innovative ideas, rebellious and contrarian inclinations. This transit lasts until February 6th, when it moves into Pisces. Before we jump ahead though, we absolutely cannot skip over the Mercury Cazimi!
Mars isn't the only sign that has a Cazimi in January: Mercury reaches 1° of Aquarius and conjoins the Sun on January 21st at 10:48am EST. The last Mercury Cazimi was on November 20th in Scorpio, whereas the last one in Aquarius was on February 9, 2025. Check back on either or both of those dates for indicators of how this clear-minded and aha-moment-inducing astrological event plays out for you! In Aquarius, we can expect for the collective to see unconventional revelations, surprise headlines, and innovative and intellectual discourse regarding humanity and technology. To harness this Mercury Cazimi day for good, start planning ahead now to make an announcement on this day or have a difficult conversation because both are likely to go incredibly smoothly.
Mars Enters Aquarius
After an absolutely joyous time in the sign of its exaltation this past month, Mars enters Aquarius on January 23rd at 4:17am EST. It's at this point that we have the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Pluto all in the same sign. That's all three personal planets plus our life force energy and the planet of transformation! For the next several weeks we'll have an especially intensified concentration in the Aquarian area of our chart, so get ready for that! The last time that Mars moved through Aquarius was February 13th through March 22nd of 2024. With Mars in this Sign, we can expect increased impulsive leaps outside of the box, eagerness to restructure and innovate, and passion for moving the needle on social change.
Pluto Cazimi in Aquarius
Only an hour and 11 minutes after Mars enters Aquarius, Pluto experiences a Cazimi. If you're keeping track, that's our third Cazimi in January 2026! Pluto's happens at 5:28am EST at 3° of Aquarius. Keep in mind that all of the planets that recently ingressed here are in the orb of this astrological event and as a result their signatures will be picked up in it. When we're interpreting this Pluto Cazimi we must also consider what the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars represent. Taking it back to just Pluto for a moment, its last Cazimi was on January 21st of 2025, also in Aquarius. Theses days are known for challenging truths and taboos being revealed, as well as the subconscious becoming conscious. In Aquarius, we can expect breaking the mold, revelations from the underbelly, and foundational shifts in the collective. Don't forget about that list of planets and tuck in activations of our ego, energy, mind, communication, joy, calm, motivation, and passion. This is quite the notable day!
Neptune Enters Aries
Last but certainly not least, we have our second outer planet (after Pluto in November 2024) to lock in to its new Sign! I've been talking about these outer planets for over a year, bouncing between their respective sign pairings. After the Neptune in Aries preview period from March 30th through October 22nd of 2025, we're finally going to live through a full and complete transit of the planet of illusion through the Cardinal Fire Sign. Neptune enters Aries on January 26th at 12:34pm EST. Part of the reason this ingress is such a big deal is because Neptune had transited Pisces for 13 years.
To take us back in time, the last complete transit of Neptune in Aries occurred from April 13th thru October 1st of 1861, February 14th of 1862 thru June 8th of 1874, and October 1st of 1874 thru April 8th of 1875. Note: the historical reputation for Neptune in Aries is one of tension. Its signatures include the emergence of cultural shifts and revolution, the end of empires, wartime (e.g., American Civil War), and pioneering in health science and spirituality. Looking ahead, Neptune transits Aries from now until May 21, 2038 before it's preview period in Taurus. It then officially says goodbye to Aries on March 23, 2039 after a 5-month regression to close out this chapter!
