Congratulations on navigating through the hectic terrain that was September 2025! We knew it was going to be a doozy with all of the astro weather on top of an eclipse season. Are you feeling transformed yet? In October, we are harnessing our recent experiences to move through additional hoops. In this post, I'm sharing what you need to know about 3 ingresses, 2 retrogrades, 2 opposition, and 1 square transit. There are 16 other aspect-related astrological events, plus the regular moon ingresses (every 2-3 days), and Sun entering Scorpio. Let's dive into the deep waters of the October 2025 Astrology and see what we discover!

Mercury Enters Scorpio & Squares Pluto Rx

The first transit I'm covering this month is Mercury's ingress into Scorpio, which kicks off on October 6th at 12:41pm EST. The fixed water sign represents the archetypes of emotional depth, truth versus deception, psyche, strategy, and intuition. With the planet of communication, travel, tech, and the mind entering Scorpio, we're getting a lot more comfortable with exploring our emotions, intuition, and heavier topics. The last time this transit happened was October 13th through November 2nd of 2024, which you can use as a frame of reference for what could crop up! This go-around, Mercury will move through Scorpio until October 19th (more on that later!). But before we can even settle into this new mindset, Mercury squares Pluto Rx in Aquarius.

This brief encounter occurs on October 7th at 10:41am EST at 1º of Scorpio and Aquarius, respectively. Pluto has been in retrograde motion in Aquarius since May 4th. When Mercury squares (i.e., aligns at a 90º angle) this planet of transformation it creates tension and a big lesson for us to learn from while sitting in some discomfort. We’re reminded of and facing the underbelly of society and reflecting on how it relates to the Scorpio area of our chart at this first degree. Don't forget that Pluto is the modern ruler of Scorpio, which means this astrological event especially activates the sign of the scorpion.

Venus Enters Libra & Opposes Neptune

Next, we'll hop over to the planet of love, harmony, pleasure, and relationships: Venus. This second planet from the Sun is practically jumping for joy to return to its domicile of Libra on October 13th at 5:19pm EST! Its last rendezvous in the sign of the scales was November 8th to December 4th of 2023; nearly 2 years ago. Libra is the cardinal air sign of the zodiac is represent all things balance, decision-making fairness, aesthetics, and interpersonal dynamics. With Venus bringing its hallmark flow to this sign, we can expect smooth sailing with affectionate companionship, keeping the peace, artistry and interior design, and aligned decision-making.

It's not all gumdrops and roses though for this transit! Venus runs straight into an opposition with Neptune only a few hours after its ingress into Libra. At 9:16pm EST Venus exactly opposes Neptune Rx at 0º of Aries. You may recall that Mercury went through this same exact sequence on September 18th – feel free to jog your memory with last month's blog post. Neptune brings brings a flair for illusion, which can send the true romantic of Venus in Libra into a heart-eyed frenzy. With rose-colored glasses it can be difficult to see the truth; we'll have to wait a day or two for this energy to clear out before we can face reality again.

Pluto Stations Direct in Aquarius

Hello darkness my old friend! Pluto is back in direct motion in Aquarius beginning on October 13th at 10:54pm EST. For context, the planet of power dynamics, transformation, and rebirth first entered the sign of the waterbearer on November 19, 2024. Aquarius is known to be rebellious, humanitarian, and system-focused, so Pluto in this sign is eager to ruffle some feathers in the collective. If you're wondering when Pluto was last in Aquarius, it's way too long ago (i.e., 1777-1798) to be a reference point for us as individuals.

For this year's annual retrograde, Pluto stationed and started backing up through the sky on May 4th of 2025. This Rx had us deeply reviewing our subconscious tendencies in the House(s) between 3º49’ and 1º22’ of Aquarius. With Pluto moving in direct motion once again we’re hitting the play button on the total overhaul of the Aquarian realm of our charts. Remember that it'll be here until 2043, which means it’s gonna be slow and steady with deep reverberations!

Mercury Enters Retrograde Pre-Shadow Period

We're back talking about Mercury for the second of three times this month and we're zeroing in on the third of three retrogrades in 2025 overall! To read about the previous retrogrades, head over to my March 2025 and July 2025 posts. On October 21st at 7:10pm EST, Mercury enters its Pre-Shadow Period at 20º Scorpio, slowing down and preparing to station retrograde on November 9th. Stay tuned for that overview next month! The reason we want to pay attention to these introductory period (while less energetically flashy than the retrograde and post-shadow) is because these degrees are included in the Rx cycle and will be under review down the line. Keep in mind that while the volume is steadily turning up to the maximum that is the Mercury Retrograde, that doesn't mean some people won't have to face the music right away!

Neptune Retrograde Enters Pisces

After the interaction with Venus over a week prior, Neptune slides into the spotlight as the first outer planet in retrograde to re-enter its old sign. At 5:48am EST on October 22nd, Neptune returns to Pisces, which it was previously transiting through from February 3, 2012 to March 30, 2025. For more details on the history of this astrological combo, revisit my March 2025 blog post. Neptune is the modern ruler of Pisces and always happy to be in the mutable water sign! This retrograde, which kicked off in Aries in July 2025, is especially significant because we're officially in the final stretch of Neptune moving through Pisces! This leg of the Rx nudges us to reflect on the last 13 years, including: shifts our collective consciousness, increased deception and disillusionment, and expansion of mystical practices and artistry. We can ask ourselves big questions about our individual and collective realities, the permeation of intuitive and spiritual modalities (such as astrology!), and how tools for escapism and deception have dominated global culture. As with any outer planet, you have the option to narrow into your Natal Chart and check where these themes have been present in the Piscean House(s). Note: this retrograde encapsulates 29º22’ Pisces through 2º11’ Aries.

Mercury Enters Sagittarius & Opposes Uranus Rx

We're closing out the month with the same planet we started with: Mercury. It's changing signs yet again and ingressing into Sagittarius. The mutable fire sign embodies the characteristics of the adventurer, philosopher, and unfiltered student of the world. Mercury enters Sagittarius on October 29th at 7:02am EST and asks us to direct our focus to the big picture, learning, and seeking understanding. The last time Mercury was in Sagittarius was from November 2, 2024 through January 8th of this year.

Only 8 hours after this October 29th ingress though, at 3:36pm EST, Mercury runs into an opposition with Uranus, which is retrograde at 0º of Gemini. An opposition is a challenging encounter, so the planet of unexpected surprises and revolution is pressuring us to think and communicate in radically new ways and expect the unexpected. This energy will be fleeting, but intense as the innermost planet to the Sun continues forward. Keep this opposition in the back of your mind though because with the upcoming retrograde it's going to make this aspect two more times before the year is out!
