It's a month of many, many, many retrogrades! Don't worry though because while these periods tend to have a negative connotation, they're deeply misunderstood. Retrogrades provide us with the opportunity to heal, learn, and correct! Having multiple overlapping and kicking off the second half of this year (mostly in retrograde) may not feel super fun in-progress, but always seems to pay off in the long run. In this post, I'm sharing what you need to know about 3 ingresses, 4 retrogrades, and 1 cazimi. There are 11 other aspect-related astrological events, plus the regular moon ingresses (every 2-3 days), New & Full Moons, and Sun entering Leo. The shortlist I chose are the hot topics of the month, so without further ado, let's dive in!

Venus Enters Gemini & Cancer
The first astrological event I've chosen to review is Venus entering Gemini on July 4th at 11:31am EST. Venus is the planet of love, beauty, artistry, and harmony; where Venus goes, ease flows! Gemini represents the archetypes of the researcher, teacher, intellectual, and contrarian. This chatty, mutable air sign will receive a boost from this benefic planet for the entire month of July. Venus will transit Gemini until July 30th, infusing a little joy as well as a shift in our desires. We can expect the life areas (dictated by the Houses) in Gemini within our birth chart to experience comfort, calm, peace, and balance.
Fast-forwarding to the very end of July for a moment, we have the Venus ingress into Cancer. The same energies described above will move from one area of our chart to the next, ruled by the Moon. The cardinal water sign is known for its intuition, emotional guardedness to protect a big heart, caretaking tendencies, nostalgia, and bearing of family ancestry. Venus enters this sign on July 30th at 11:57pm EST and will remain there until August 25th. During this transit, our relationships may take on more emotional richness, tenderness, and reflection. Look to the House(s) in Cancer to see where in your life Venus bestows its gifts over the weeks that follow!
Neptune Retrograde in Aries
Resetting the clock back to July 4th, we have a second major transit happening after the Venus ingress into Gemini. Neptune, which first entered Aries back in March (see my blog post) begins its annual retrograde period. The planet of dreams, illusion, delusion, deception, and intuition stations retrograde at 1º of Aries at 5:34pm EST. Aries is the cardinal fire sign, and initiator of the entire zodiac, representing action, courage, competition, passion, and independence. As a refresher, retrogrades are not to be feared and rather they're times of healing, reflection, and revisiting experiences and situations for review and readjustment.
Over the past 3 months, the collective has been living through a preview period of Neptune in Aries that we'll now reflect back on, plus the closure of the Neptune in Pisces chapter. More on this extended reflection process as we reach Neptune's ingress into the mutable water sign in October, though! For now, we'll focus on Neptune retracing the first 2 degrees of Aries and how this retrograde is calling on us to both question and heal our relationship with reality, impulsivity, and collective action.
Uranus Enters Gemini
Only a few days later on July 7th at 3:45am EST does the next ingress occurs: Uranus entering Gemini. Any time an outer planet changes signs, it's a huge deal! Uranus embodies revolution, innovation, and unexpected surprises, and it enters a new zodiac sign approximately every 7 years. Uranus was in Taurus, from May 18, 2018 to November 6, 2018 before formally entering for 7yrs straight on March 6, 2019. By ingressing into Gemini this month, it's entering a preview period of 5 months, just as it had back in 2018. These months ahead, September-retrograde-included, offer a window into what to expect for the next 6 years.
Uranus in Gemini's historical reputation is that of innovation via communication & technology, collective shifts in thinking, education, and social practices. Typically, it's a time of new words and decoding, youth-led revolution, and emergent modes of transportation. Politically, Uranus in Gemini is also associated with conflict, with big name examples include the American Civil War and United States' entrance into WWII. All of the above citations may sound daunting – and they are! However, while armed with these cyclical patterns, we can ensure we're standing on the right side of history, embracing positive change with humanitarian benefits.
On the individual level, Uranus is pushing each of us to make big picture pivots, hairpin turns, and drastic upheavals. Look no further than the House(s) in Gemini to learn where you can expect (and harness) change between July 7, 2025 and August 3, 2032. The preview period of July through early November offers us a taste of what's to come...
Saturn Retrograde in Aries
Next up in the astro weather queue is Saturn stationing Retrograde at 1º of Aries on July 13th at 12:07am EST. Remember how Neptune stationed retrograde at the same degree only 9 days prior? It's significant that these retrogrades are occurring at similar degree points and around the same time. As if Aries hasn't had enough attention in 2025!!! The first 2 degrees of the sign of the ram are getting double duty reflection work with these dual retrogrades. Saturn moves much quicker than Neptune because it's closer to the Sun. As a result, the planet of responsibility, maturity, boundaries, and time will cover more ground in Pisces.
In the Neptune Retrograde in Aries section above, I explained what retrogrades represent in astrology, in broad terms. When it comes to integrating the themes of the greater malefic, Saturn, these periods include redoing, recalibrating, and rebuilding. Saturn after all wants to create structures and systems that last. Given that this Rx is happening in Aries (initially), Saturn is wielding its authority in the domain of action, courage, competition, passion, and the individual. Saturn first entered Aries on May 24th, which launched us into its preview period, forecasting its next 2 years in this sign. While Saturn is in Aries, we can expect heightened focus on taking action to establish boundaries, starting new projects for long-term investment, and regarding the Aries House area(s) of your Natal Chart more seriously. I'll speak more on Saturn’s return into Pisces when it reenters the mutable water sign on September!
Mercury Retrograde & Mercury Cazimi in Leo
The planet of writing, speech, mindset, travel and transportation, and technology is having another active month because it's experiencing its second of three retrogrades in 2025. The first was straddled between Aries and Pisces, while this time it's strictly in Leo. This sign encapsulates the performer, playfulness, creativity, and a prideful ego to boot. The retrograde here sets up a valuable platform for rethinking our processes, language, reductive thought patterns, and more. Mercury Rx in Leo brings a particular flare to our thoughts and how we present ourselves in the world (esp. creative expression, comfort in the spotlight, how our egos handle when wires get crossed). We also could revisit creative outlets or projects that were previously collecting dust.
Mercury already entered it's Pre-Shadow Period on June 30th at 1:54am EST, while at 4º of Leo. It stations Rx on July 18th at 12:45am EST at 15º of the fixed fire sign. The entire retrograde is contained within Leo, making it hyper-concentrated on this particular area of our lives. The Post-Shadow Period ends on August 25th at 4:36pm EST. Therefore, the full experience of this retrograde cycle runs from June 30th through August 25th, just a few days under 2 full months. Compare that to a typical Mercury transit of a sign in direct motion, which is around 3 weeks long!
As with any retrograde, and especially for Mercury Rx, which are known for tech issues, communication and travel snafus, and mental fogginess, we look forward to the Cazimi Day. A cazimi, meaning "in the heart of the Sun," is an astrological alignment of a planet and the Sun at the same degree of the same sign, also known as a conjunction. Days when cazimis occur are supercharged with empowered energy. Starting at July 31st at 7:41pm at 9º of Leo, the hours that follow open doors for smooth communication, planning, launching or announcing something because our minds, language, and technology experience a bright spot of true flow. Plus, Leo wants to be in the spotlight and show off, so be sure to take advantage! Fold in the House(s), as always, to contextualize the areas of life experiencing a careful re-review over the next two months and a cazimi highlight at the flip of the calendar.
Chiron Retrograde in Aries
The day before the Mercury Cazimi, July sneaks in a fourth retrograde – the audacity, right?! At basically the eleventh hour, Chiron, an asteroid known as the wounded healer, begins its retrograde. This astrological about-face starts at 10:42am EST on July 30th at 27º of Aries. Chiron doesn't conclude its retrograde motion until January 2, 2026. Therefore, we'll have a solid 5 months of deep soul work and introspection about what makes us tick in the Aries part of our Natal Chart.
Chiron has been in Aries since April 2018, with annual retrograde periods similar to Neptune and Uranus. Over the last 7 years, we've faced tender moments in the Aries area of our chart, with cyclical frustrations and tough lessons, pushing us to grow through the pain, healing through trial by fire. Chiron still has more time left before reaching full mastery of this Aries domain; it enters Taurus for a preview period in 2026 before formally transiting into the fixed earth sign in April 2027. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves though and save the 2026 astrology forecasting for next year!
