Have you recovered from the head-turning energy portals of March yet? During April, we are fueled by an intense inner fire and rearing for a new era of change. In this post, I'm sharing what you need to know about 4 ingresses 2 retrogrades, and 3 conjunction transits. There are 14 other aspect-related astrological events, plus the regular moon ingresses (every 2-3 days), and Sun entering Taurus. Get ready because it's time to connect to the cosmos of the April 2026 Astrology!
Mercury Rx Shadow Ends
Welcome to April! Following a relatively chill first week, we experience the sweet release of the grips of a Mercury Retrograde. On April 9th at 7:42am EST, Mercury reaches 22º34' of Pisces, exiting its Post-Retrograde Shadow Period. To recap the timeline of the first Mercury Rx of 2026: the planet of communication entered its Pre-Shadow Period on February 11th at 8º29' Pisces and then Stationed Retrograde at 22º34' Pisces on February 26th. The Retrograde itself lasted a few weeks with Mercury stationing Direct on March 20th. The Post-Rx Shadow phase of any Retrograde is when the celestial body is slowly increasing in speed, in forward motion through the sky (remember that this is an optical illusion). The Post Shadow period coming to a close signals that Mercury is full steam ahead, as the speediest personal planet in our solar system. In fact, in less than a week it'll already be moved into a new Sign! For more details on each milestone of this Rx, refer back to my February and March blog posts and YouTube videos.
Mars Enters Aries
Just 8 hours after Mercury clears its Post-Retrograde Shadow Period, we have our first ingress of the month! The planet of action, passion, and drive returns home to Aries on April 9th at 3:37pm EST. Aries is the Cardinal Fire Sign of the zodiac and is represented by the ram. With Mars in this Sign, referred to as its domicile, for the next 5 weeks, we can expect in increase in bold moves, head-first confrontations and compulsion for competition, and risky but ultimately courageous initiation. This is a time for moving aggressively forward with any projects in the Aries area of your chart. Do be mindful of the hot-headed nature of this transit because not all forward motion will support our highest good and we could end up pushing people away with our assertiveness if we're not mindful! The last time this transit occurred was April 30th thru June 9th of 2024; look back to this time period as a frame of reference.
Mars-Neptune Conjunction in Aries
With Mars plowing through Aries it takes only a handful of days to meet up with Neptune at 2º Aries. Neptune first entered this Sign at the tail end of January, locking in for a 13 year journey where fire meets water to create all kinds of steam. On April 13th at 1:29am EST Mars imposes its propulsion energy on the planet of perception. This astrological event is a continuation of the second sequence of personal planets engaging with an outer planet. Back in January, Mercury, Venus and Mars all conjoined Pluto in a matter of weeks. In the case of Neptune, due to the Mercury Retrograde, this conjunction series had a bit of a gap. Venus met up with Neptune in February, while both Mars and Mercury take their turns this month.
By and large, Mars-Neptune Conjunctions are known for triggering intuition-informed progress, whimsied spurts of inspiration, and emboldened tendencies towards persuasion. We're going more than dreaming up our reality, but putting it into action. Add Aries to that equation and we're doubling down on the fieriness! We're likely to see those aforementioned dynamics to infuse intention, blazing focus, and carefree illusion. In many ways this experience will feel like the polar opposite of the Saturn-Neptune Conjunction back in March.
Mercury Enters Aries
Let's back to Mercury now don't we! The messenger planet was in a dysfunctional place over the last couple months: Pisces. The Mutable Water Sign is the area of the zodiac where Mercury is in detriment and fall. In other words, it feels both far from home and truly agitated. The ingress into Aries on April 14, 2026 at 11:22pm EST will allow our minds and communication to light up, race, and seek to propel us forward. Between this day and May 2nd, our perspective will shift and reorient around impulsive and unfiltered hot takes, quick intellectual processing, and an action-focused mindset.The last time this transit took place was March 3rd thru 29th of 2025 (including a Pre-Shadow & Retrograde) and April 16th thru May 10th of 2025 (including a Post-Shadow). Therefore, this spin through Aries will keep out foot entirely on the gas petal!. To bring the other planets back into the conversation, at this point in time Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and Neptune are all transiting the early degrees of the Cardinal Fire Sign. As a result, we can expect multiple conjunctions to occur over the coming weeks!
Mercury-Neptune Conjunction in Aries
Speaking of conjunctions, we have the second one of this month, with the planet of delusion (again!). On April 16th at 10:01pm EST, Mercury and Neptune conjoin at 2º of Aries. Mercury may have finally escaped Pisces this month, but it's in the clutches of it's modern ruler, which spells trouble! This type of conjunction has a reputation for bringing inspired ideas to the front of mind, blurring the line between fact and fiction, and frequent daydreaming. For a Mercury-Neptune conjunction in Aries, we can anticipate those dynamic incorporating intentional action, distracted and fragmented attention span, and carefree illusion. As part of the broader storyline for a planet as slow-moving as Neptune, the peak activity wraps up here. Venus conjoined the reality planet at 0º back in February, the Sun formed a Cazimi at 1º in March, and Mars, the ruler of Aries, formed a conjunction with Neptune at the same degree as Mercury just three days prior. Neptune finds its voice on April 16th, so make sure you're listening!
Saturn Rx Shadow Begins
The first astrological event we discussed was Mercury exiting it's Post-Shadow Period of it's first Retrograde cycle of 2026. Now it's Saturn's turn to begin its annual Retrograde! On April 20, 2026 at 8:45am EST the planet of constriction reaches 7º56' of Aries, beginning the Pre-Shadow Period. This 3-month-long saga ahead of us offers a slow and steady build up of pressure until the Retrograde starts at the end of July. The entire cycle from Pre-Shadow to Post-Shadow will run from April 2026 to March 2027. At least this time Saturn won't be changing Signs! If you use the Placidus System for your Natal Chart, pay attention to the degree range for the Retrograde (7º56' to 14º45' Aries) and whether you have a House line falling in the Rx zone. If not, then you'll only have one life area under the critical review of Saturn. For comparison, the last Saturn Pre-Shadow Period was from April 6th to July 13th of 2025 between 25º09’ of Pisces and 1º56’ of Aries.
Venus-Uranus Conjunction in Taurus
We've got our third outer planet conjunction of April, but this time it's Venus and Uranus tangling up at the final degree of Taurus. Astrologers like myself cannot understate the symbolic importance of natal placements and transits taking place at the anaretic degree. These astrological signatures encapsulate an intense ending energy of the finality of the last sentence of chapter. More on the extra special closing of an entire book for Uranus later this month!
This conjunction takes place on April 23rd at 9:58pm EST at 29º of Taurus. Whenever peace-loving Venus and rebellion-inducing Uranus conjoin, we simply must watch out for cases of intriguing allure, a lack of and reliability in our relationships, and a desire for breaking the rules. Given that it's taking place in the Fixed Earth Sign, we should also consider a narrative interplay of materialism for the sake of stability, comfort-seeking in the chaos, and a disobedient spirit. The combination of these energies makes this day one to be mindful of as it approaches. With Venus we ask about our values and connections; what changes are necessary to grant us the strength necessary for revolution?
Venus Enters Gemini
The planet of love has luxuriated throughout its time in one of its two Signs of rulership (the other being Libra). But alas that's all coming to an end a mere 2 hours after the conjunction with Uranus. Just past the stroke of midnight, in the Eastern Time Zone, at 12:04am on April 24th, Venus ingresses into the Mutable Air Sign. Gemini is represented by the twins and is ruled by the only personal planet faster than Venus: Mercury! Whenever Venus transits this Sign, we can expect to experience ample comfort in the company of and discourse with others, harmonious dialogue with lighthearted wit, and compassionate curiosity. For the previous Venus transits through Gemini, scout out July 4th through 30th of 2025 in your calendar and/or journal to learn where flow was sprinkled in your life like glitter!
Uranus Enters Gemini
We're closing out April in the same way that we did in January, with absolutely major astrology – it's potentially a once-in-a-lifetime event! Uranus is the second outer planet to change Signs and enter a new era in 2026. The first was Neptune in Aries where we had our first outer planet change Signs and lock into a new era. Now, it's Uranus moving into Gemini after spending 7 years in Taurus. The exception of course is the brief preview period from July 7th through November 5th 2025, when we got to sample this energy. Historically, the last complete transit of Uranus in Gemini occurred between August 7th and October 4th of 1941, May 15th of 1942 and August 30th of 1948, and November 12th of 1948 and June 10th of 1949.
This Uranus in Gemini transit starts on April 25th at 8:52pm EST and lasts until 2033. The reputation for this transit that we can use to set our expectations is one of technological advancements in communication and transportation, shifts in education and social norms, a renaissance of coining new terms and decoding old texts, plus youth-led movements and global conflict. For example the American Revolution and the United States entering into World War II both happened during Uranus in Gemini periods. While the outer planets are most strongly associated with collective energy, you can still contextualize them within the associated life area(s)! Simply look at your Natal Chart to find the House(s) in Gemini that will undergo sudden changes with regularity, innovation, and inclinations to rebel.
