July called forward reflection of our sense of reality, peace in processes, and new clarity about both our present and future. This month, however, we are seeking to live well, find our focus, harness the turning points, and rediscover our sense of play. In this post, I'm sharing what you need to know about 4 ingresses, 2 retrogrades, 2 eclipses, and 1 cazimi. There are 17 other aspect-related astrological events, plus the regular moon ingresses (every 2-3 days), and Sun entering Virgo. Get ready because it's time to connect to the cosmos of the August 2026 Astrology!
Chiron Stations Retrograde in Taurus
Chiron, an asteroid that orbits between Saturn and Uranus, embodies our wounds and what we need to heal in this lifetime. Back in June it finally changed signs to enter Taurus, after spending 8 years straight in Aries. With Chiron Stationing Retrograde on August 3rd at 4:10pm EST at 0º52' Taurus, that preview period is coming to an end! Chiron will review its short-lived stint in Taurus between now and September 17th. It's our opportunity to check in on our how sense of safety and security have been poked and prodded since June 19th. Chiron Retrogrades have a reputation for prompting situations that trigger trauma responses, nudges to face major life lessons, and tending to unresolved wounds. We'll check back in on this transit next month to discuss the Aries leg of the retrograde! For now, consider exercising, healthy eating, time in nature, and sensory experiences that elicit joy and relaxation. Note: the last Chiron Retrograde Period was from July 30th 2025 to January 2nd of this year between 27º09’ and 22º35’ of Aries.
Venus Enters Libra
For our first ingress of the month, Venus enters Libra on August 6th at 3:13pm EST. When the planet of peace changes Signs, we're highlighting relationship and harmony in the corresponding area of our life. In the Cardinal Air Sign, which Venus rules (!), we're inclined to seek out affection, mediation, artistry, and balanced decision-making. Let's unwind and get creative between now and September 10th!
Mercury Rx Shadow Ends
On August 6th at 11:37pm EST, Mercury reaches 29º15' of Cancer, exiting its Post-Retrograde Shadow Period. To recap the timeline of the second Mercury Rx of 2026: the planet of communication entered its Pre-Shadow Period on June 12th at 16º19' Cancer and then Stationed Retrograde at 29º15' Cancer on June 29th. The Retrograde itself lasted a few weeks with Mercury stationing Direct on July 23rd. This Post Shadow period concluding means that we're no longer in revision mode or correcting errors from the last two months. This day offer a brief moment of reflection to honor our efforts, rediscover clarity, and refocusing on the future. Mercury is ready to race through the second half of this Sign and enter Leo only a few days later!
Mercury Enters Leo
With Mercury in the Fixed Fire Sign, it's time to party! We're in dire need of some fun and look no further than the transition point on August 9th at 12:29pm EST. Here, the messenger planet encourages us to speak with more confidence and conviction, remember and be proud of our gifts, get creative, and pay attention to loyalty. We can't get too comfortable here because Mercury will switch signs yet again before the month is over – make certain to find your voice and express yourself authentically! The last time that we experienced a Mercury in Leo transit was June 26th through September 2nd of 2025, in case you'd like to look back.
Mars Enters Cancer
Let's hop over to our third personal planet of the month making an ingress: Mars. It enters Cancer, the Sign of its fall, on August 11th at 4:31pm EST. Mars truly despites being in the Cardinal Water Sign, just think back to its very, very extended run (and Retrograde) from September 2024 to April 2025 (minus the November to January preview period), which was a trip! Over the next several weeks we may be driven to make emotional bonds, support the domestic and familial realms of our lives, and trust our intuition. This process may feel a little sticky and uncomfortable, but there's much to be discovered and acted upon if we're open to listening to what comes to the surface.
Solar Eclipse in Leo & Lunar Eclipse in Pisces
Welcome to the second eclipse season of 2026! The Solar Eclipse occurs on August 12th at 1:47pm EST at 20° of Leo. We've been living through a double eclipse series with the Pisces-Virgo and Aquarius-Leo nodal transits since February. I wrote about this overlap in September if you'd like to see the timeline for both! In general, eclipses represent beginning and ending cycles, and the South Node in Leo Eclipse asks us to release the low vibrational energies of the Fixed Fire Sign. The cosmos encourage us to shed egocentrism, pride, and drama. To learn about the signatures of this eclipse, look back to these over the last few decades: 8/21/17, 8/1/08, 7/30/00, 8/11/99, 7/30/81, 8/10/80, and 8/22/79.
Fast-forward to August 28th, and we'll find ourselves at the second lunation of the month! The Sun reaches 4º of Virgo and Moon reaches 4º of Pisces to create our Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse formation at 12:14am EST. As this is a North Node in Pisces Eclipse, we're called to lean into the high vibrational energies of the Mutable Water Sign. In other words, embracing compassion, creativity, intuition, and, of course, dreaming bigger! For the last batch of Pisces Lunar Eclipses look to: 9/7/25, 9/17/24, 9/16/16, 8/28/07, 9/7/06, 9/6/98, 9/16/97, and 8/27/88.

Mercury Enters Virgo
Mercury is back in the conversation with its second ingress of the month on August 25th at 7:05am EST. With the planet of communication entering the intellectual, and Mercury-ruled, Sign of Virgo, we're ready to be precise. The Mutable Earth Sign values clarity of thought, spatial organization, plan-setting, and efficiency. Not only is Mercury in its domicile in Virgo, but it's exhalted, which means it's totally jazzed! Over the next couple weeks, we can expect to find our focus land on health, self-improvement, and perfectionism. To compare your level of productivity potential, refer back to September 2nd through 18th of last year for a framework of what to expect.
Mercury Cazimi in Virgo
Just two days later, Mercury reaches its cazimi point! August 27th is a date we'll want to circle on our calendars because our already-happy Mercury gets an extra boost from its conjunction with the Sun! At 1:03pm EST, these celestial bodies meet up at 4º Virgo. Broadly, Mercury Cazimis are known for smooth communication, big announcements and launches, and providing aha moments. This is a great day to publish new products or services, brainstorm ideas and have a writer's retreat, or engage in particularly difficult conversations. Due to the Virgoan influence, we may be supercharged in efficiencies and be presented with new ways of growing via our personal development journey. The last Mercury Cazimi was on July 12th in Cancer. while moving in retrograde motion. For the last one in Virgo, go back to September 13, 2025!
Venus Rx Pre-Shadow Begins
To bring this month to a close, we'll go back to the very first personal planets highlighted: Venus! On last day of August, Venus enters its Pre-Shadow Period for the upcoming Retrograde cycle. At 10:51am EST on August 31st, Venus reaches 22º52' of Libra, to mark the first degree point that will undergo evaluation between now and December 15th. Essentially, Venus will spend the rest of the year looking for where we can find balance, improve our relationships, and get more creative in the life areas of our Charts that reside in the early degrees of Scorpio and later ones of Libra. Note: the last Venus Pre-Shadow Period was from January 28th to March 1st of 2025 between 24º37’ of Pisces and 10º50’ of Aries. For this first portion of the Retrograde, from now until September 10th, we can assess the final approximately 6 degrees of Libra for ways to unwind and reconnect to our values.
