October 2026 Astrology Forecast
September was a month of reconnecting to our intuition, holding lessons learned under the microscope, and boldly self-expressing. In October, we're intensely reflecting on our relationship values, strategic discourse, and outdated foundations. In this post, I'll share what you need to know about 3 retrogrades. There are 20 other aspect-related astrological events, plus the regular moon ingresses (every 2-3 days), and Sun entering Scorpio. No time like the present to connect to the cosmos of the October 2026 Astrology!
Venus Retrograde in Scorpio & Libra Begins
The ever-gracious host, Venus sets the table for a Retrograde in Scorpio party! To keep the timeline straight, Mercury entered Scorpio a couple weeks after Venus' ingress in September. Then Venus entered the Pre-Shadow on August 31st, less than one prior to Mercury doing the same. On October 3rd at 3:16pm EST, the planet of love Stations Retrograde at 8º29' Scorpio. Given the early degree of this Sign, the Retrograde Cycle includes a dip back into Libra, which Venus thrives. That introspective reprieve will come as a relieving contrast to the initial and concluding portions in Scorpio, where it's in detriment. For a flavor of what Venus Retrogrades are like, flip the calendar back to March 1st through April 12th of 2025, where it bounced between Pisces and Aries. During this first segment of the Retrograde, from October 3rd to 25th, we may feel extra out of balance while also intensely reflective on our relationships and forms of intimacy. From October 25th to November 13th, Venus seeks out fairness and evaluates our values in the correponding area of our life.
Mercury Pre-Shadow & Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio Begins
Shifting focus to the faster-moving personal planet, on October 4th at 5:10am EST, Mercury enters its Pre-Shadow Retrograde Period at 5º02' of Scorpio. For more on the general themes of Mercury in Scorpio, refer back to the September 2026 Astrology Forecast. While the messenger planet prepares to Station Retrograde in the final week of October, we can expect an increased emergence of technology, communication, and transportation issues. Check your Natal Chart for 5º02' through 20º59' of the Fixed Water Sign to pinpoint the Houses (i.e., life areas) that Mercury is reviewing, redoing, reflecting, and ruminating on. As a point of comparison, the previous Mercury Pre-Shadow Period was from June 12th to 29th between 16º19' through 29º15' of Cancer. Look to September 27th to October 13th of 2020 for the last one in Scorpio, transiting 0º to 11º40'.
Fast-forwarding to October 24th at 3:12am EST, Mercury crawls to a halt at 20º59' Scorpio and then begins its trek backward through the same degrees it transited through over the last 20 days. Now officially in Retrograde Motion, we can expect mental fogginess, miscommunication, travel and transportation challenges, and malfunctioning technologies. The hijinks are officially upon us, if they haven't gotten to us already! The last Mercury Rx Period ran from June 29th to July 23rd in Cancer, whereas the last one in Scorpio was from November 18th to 29th of 2025. For this go-around, the Mercury Rx will last until November 13th and the Post-Shadow will clear out on the 30th of that same month.
Pluto Retrograde in Aquarius Ends
From the innermost planet in our solar system to the outermost (dwarf) planet, Pluto gives us the gift of concluding its annual Retrograde Period. As the slowest celestial body, the Rx journey from start to finish is quite long! Its Pre-Shadow began on January 12th at 3º04' of Aquarius and the Retrograde started on May 6th at 5º30'. Only 2º of movement and Pluto isn't done retracing them – when Stationing Direct, the Post-Shadow Period commences. This final portion will extend from October 15th at 10:40pm EST to February 6th of 2027. Over the next 4 months, Pluto conducts its final renewal efforts, rumbling the foundation of anything outdated and searing our soul into long-term efforts. Note: the last Pluto Retrograde Post-Shadow Period was from October 13th of 2025 to February 4th of this year between 1º22’ and 3º49’ of Aquarius.
Venus Cazimi in Scorpio
Circling back to Venus one last time this month, October 23rd is a day we can look forward to! Venus Cazimis are known for encouraging flow, ease, creativity, and relationships. To experience a Venus Cazimi when the planet of peace is feeling anything but harmonious in Scorpio, will be positively luxurious! On the 23rd at 11:43pm EST, we can expect an allure towards deeply emotional connections, heightened sensuality, and openness to transformation. Interestingly enough, the last Venus Cazimi in Scorpio happened on this same date back in 2022! That day is the closest comparison by signature, but for a more recent one (this time in Capricorn), refer back to January 5th of this year.
