When I tuned into the month of November 2024, the first phrase that came to mind was "free palette, clean slate." I was immediately taken to the close up of a painter's palette. The painter (you!) is squeezing different tubes of paint onto it, preparing for a session of independent creation. They stick their brush into a cup of water that's already discolored and l get ready to swipe into the first color they're drawn to. However, in this pause, some of the dirty water drips off of the brush, down their hand and wrist, and they finally notice it. There's a flash of confusion and a quick decision to throw out the brush (i.e., the messenger) rather than the cup of water (i.e., the source of the issue).
There's an air of stubbornness about this decision because they were the one who collected the water in the first place, along with the rest of the supplies. They insist that there's been sabotage and someone else must be to blame for the tainted water – or worse, the entire water supplied. Some mild paranoia crops up around resource infiltration, but mostly the painter puts up a wall of resistance to the whole situation. The practice action, naturally, is to dump out the discolored water and check the water source (e.g., the faucet). And yet, they sit down on the floor with arms crossed and a pouty lower lip, insisting that everything is ruined. there are blinders at play preventing you from engaging with creativity and joy. After all, the foundation of adaptability includes creative and expansive thought, which is being undermined this month.
The scene switches to an entirely new painter, donning a smock that's covered in various paint colors. They have smears on their face and in their hair. They're fully tapped in with their most authentic sense of self-expression. The contrast raised here comes down to perspective. There were multiple solutions for the first painter that would've allowed them to move forward with creating their artwork. Further, if they'd been more conscientious from the start they would have noticed the water issue before having filled their palette with paint that cannot be put back into their respective tubes.
I'm seeing the advice for the first painter is to "remove the veil of negativity" from their eyes. It's been infused with darkness, pessimism, small-mindedness, jealousy, envy, and regret. That's a tough way to live! There's a genuine choice here for joy and innovation through connection with others. After the painter's veil is removed, someone else enters the scene and quickly helps them to resolve the water issue. In gratitude, the painter pulls out another canvas and set of supplies so the two of them can create masterpieces side-by-side. This happy and unified resolution is available at your fingertips (and ready!) as soon as you take that small step to see your reality in a whole new light.
