Welcome
Renee: You're listening to Synergy to Synastry, the podcast where two corporate girlies call to follow their intuition, take you on a journey of self-exploration through metaphysical modalities.
Christine: I'm Christine, intuitive coach and clairvoyant.
Renee: And I'm Renee, psychic intuitive and astrologer.
Christine: We're excited that you're here and honored to be your spiritual guides.
Christine: If you enjoy this podcast, make sure to subscribe, rate and review wherever you listen.
Christine: It helps listeners find our show, plus it automatically enters you into our raffles to win a free psychic reading.
Renee: Now, let's get into the episode.
Ice Cream Brain
Christine: So you know when you make ice cream in the Vitamix, or a high-powered blender, and it's all mixing together, and it looks like it's in four parts?
Christine: That's how my brain feels today.
Renee: I quite literally said, one, two episodes ago, jokingly, tune in next time for when Christine will tell us the next food that's representing the status of her brain.
Renee: And you immediately, without being solicited, launched into a different comparison.
Christine: Not spaghetti, it's not cotton candy, it's not empty today.
Christine: It's really full.
Renee: I guess I understand what you're talking about.
Renee: I just never would have chosen when you're mixing ice cream in a blender to represent that.
Renee: I would have thought of something more segmented, like the bento boxes.
Christine: No, that's the problem.
Christine: They are together, and I'm trying to pull them apart so I can have a cohesive thought.
Christine: It's going to be really good ice cream though.
Renee: What's the flavor of the day?
Christine: You know what?
Christine: It feels a little bit like coffee ice cream, I'm not going to lie.
Divination Tools
Christine: More importantly, Renee, what we're talking about today, we covered this in season one, but for season two, there were more modalities of divination that we wanted to dive into.
Christine: I was talking to someone the other day, and they said, so we know that tarot and oracle cards are divination tools, but what exactly is divination?
Christine: I'm curious how you would define that.
Renee: When you are gathering information, using your intuition and or by connecting to source or universal energy about something, and you can do that through a physical object or resource to supplement just you sitting by yourself and receiving or requesting information.
Christine: Yeah, I like that.
Christine: We are the channel.
Christine: The information comes down into our head, and then it comes out via whatever physical modality we're using.
Renee: In the first season, we talked about oracle cards, tarot cards, pendulums and crystals, but there's so many more than just those.
Renee: With season two, we're trying to level everything up.
Renee: This is sophomore year, lest we forget.
Renee: We want to depict divination tools that we have not used before.
Renee: Water divination or hydromancy, tea leaves or tassiomancy, palmistry or chiromancy, and then book divination or bibliomancy.
Renee: Christine and I each took one in private and experimented with that tool, so we are going to be hearing our experiences for the first time today.
Renee: And I'm so curious how yours went, but let's not jump ahead of ourselves and we'll start from the top.
Christine: Yes, let's get into the mansies.
Water Divination, Hydromancy, Water Scrying
Renee: Water divination, also known as hydromancy, and also known as water scrying.
Renee: For anyone who hasn't heard the term scrying before, it ultimately means revealing.
Renee: Hydromancy is the practice of using water to divine insights by viewing the movements, reflections, and other characteristics of it.
Renee: You can gaze at the surface or drop something into some sort of body of water and observe the ripples.
Renee: You may tap into others as well, but predominantly it's understood to be a tool to supplement your clairvoyance.
Renee: When I was researching this, I found that there's a strong link to the moon.
Renee: It's actually recommended if you want to try water scrying, that you do it on a new or full moon.
Renee: For my practice session, I wasn't able to do that, but I did strategically pick the astrological sign that the moon was in to try to boost the energy because I wasn't able to wait until the next new moon.
Renee: The origins of water divination go back to ancient Greece, medieval Europe, ancient China.
Renee: It actually was referenced in the I Ching, which we talked about in Episode on Feng Shui, and the ancient Celts, especially the Druids who used lakes and rivers and watching the movement of the water in order to make decisions for the health and wellness of their communities.
Renee: The most famous water scryer I was pleasantly surprised to learn is actually Nostradamus, we briefly mentioned in the String Theory and Hypnosis Episodes.
Renee: Coincidence anyone?
Renee: I think not.
How to Do Water Divination
Renee: So how do you actually do this?
Renee: And what's recommended for supplies?
Renee: A dark bowl, because you're looking to get rid of excess light.
Renee: You fill it with water.
Renee: If you're really, really leaning into this, it's rainwater.
Renee: I just use the filtered water.
Renee: Any sort of energy tools around you to supplement or amplify.
Renee: Light some incense, clear the room with sage, have clear crystals around you.
Renee: Do a visualization practice to clear the energy out.
Renee: Turn off the lights.
Renee: You want to sit in the dark.
Renee: So I had to wait and time this to one, I wanted to do this on a Pisces moon, because it's in my ninth house, and it's a water sign.
Renee: But I had to wait until it was dark.
Renee: I got my bowl, and then I had to sit in a dark room and do this.
Christine: I'm just imagining you doing all of this, and Leanne coming up to your room.
Christine: Thank God she's sick and sequestered right now.
Christine: I can't imagine what it would be like if she opened the door, and you're sitting in the dark with a bowl of water just staring.
Renee: Seriously, it would have been the funniest thing.
Renee: Well, what I was doing was she was locked up in her room, and I was in the living room.
Renee: Okay, so back to the setup.
Renee: You turn off the lights, you have your bowl in front of you, any crystals or other things that you want to set the scene, you clear the space.
Renee: Meditate for some period of time, because what you're doing is you're looking to enter a trance state.
Renee: Given my experience with doing psychic readings, I didn't sit in meditation really for an extended period of time.
Renee: I just took a few deep breaths doing what I normally do to tune in if I was going to read someone.
Renee: You gaze into the bowl.
Renee: What you're concentrating on is just trying to keep your eyes relaxed, and that's it.
Renee: Those are the instructions.
Renee: And what I had heard is that it can take months and months of practice, and also it just may not be for you.
Renee: You could try this, and it just doesn't work, and you don't get anything from it.
Water Divination & the Moon
Renee: But it is recommended for people who have a strong connection to the moon and water.
Renee: So when I saw that, I was laughing.
Renee: I was like, well, of course I happened to pick this one of the four.
Renee: I was like, oh, I'll just do water divination.
Renee: And I have a very strong moon.
Renee: My chart's ruled by the moon.
Renee: I have a connection to the moon and water.
Renee: Christine and I were talking about this ahead of time, and she had said, oh, I feel like you're going to be able to do it on the first try.
Renee's Experience with Water Divination
Renee: Now I'm going to share about my actual experience.
Renee: So we've set the scene.
Renee: I'm sitting in a dark living room.
Christine: Are you wearing a cloak?
Renee: No, I think I was wearing all black though, because those were my PJs.
Renee: I'm sitting in the dark and all black with a gray bowl of water.
Christine: I can't.
Christine: Okay, sorry, continue.
Renee: Just to preface, I'm new, so don't make it fun of me.
Renee: I took a few deep breaths, I'm looking into the bowl, and all of a sudden my left ear just started ringing.
Renee: Really, really strong, and it just kind of went like right.
Renee: I felt it like go right out of my ear, and it was sustained, and I actually looked around, covering my ear because it was so loud, that I couldn't tell if I was actually hearing something outside.
Renee: I was like, whoa, okay, that was like really freaky and cool.
Renee: So people can imagine this, because I am sitting in the dark, I can't even see my own reflection in it.
Renee: If I moved my head around, I could see that there was a dark shape that was moving, but I couldn't pick out any of my features.
Renee: I could barely even see the water because it was so dark.
Renee: You're supposed to keep your eyes relaxed.
Renee: So I kept thinking about it.
Renee: Okay, relax my eyes, relax my eyes.
Renee: It's like when you go in and out of a daze, it felt like that sensation.
Renee: I was starting to ask divination questions.
Renee: What are people going to need to know for when this episode comes out and when I'm going to be sharing this story?
Renee: It was at that point that I started having stuff come through.
Renee: Christine, you know what this feels like.
Renee: When you are going into your psychic space, which we learned about through Nuurvana program, the information is coming from within your head.
Renee: Even if you have your eyes open and you're looking out at the world and you see an image, it feels like it's within your head.
Renee: And with this, it didn't.
Renee: It was really, really trippy.
Renee: The images which I started to see, they were all black and gray.
Renee: They felt separate from me.
Renee: Like I was seeing them across the water.
Renee: I'd be writing things down and I would get more information.
Renee: I go, okay, all right, thanks.
Renee: So it started to feel in some ways like a normal reading.
Renee: But how the images came through and just the general sensation that I had going on was very, very different.
Renee: So I will now share what came through.
Renee: First, I saw a bunch of little chickadees.
Renee: That's how they were described.
Renee: A little chickadees and they were getting slotted into these colorful pouches.
Renee: From here, it flipped into the black and gray.
Renee: I consider the reading as really starting at this point.
Renee: And what I saw was a galloping horse.
Renee: And then someone pulled on the reins of it.
Renee: So it was stopping the horse.
Renee: It switched to stable gates being opened.
Renee: This is a new chapter.
Renee: I was realizing when this episode comes out, it's going to be mid to late June, which is around the time that Jupiter is exiting Gemini and going into Cancer, aka the home.
Renee: We were seeing the horse in the wild.
Renee: Oh, it's going to go home.
Renee: Gates were opening.
Renee: So then it was going to go in.
Renee: And then I got brought to a totally different image.
Renee: And it was a bunch of soldiers walking up a hill.
Renee: The language that came through was they were doomed to a stale mate.
Renee: Switched again, and I was seeing a cheetah.
Renee: So I wasn't able to figure out what it was for a while.
Renee: And I thought I was back to the horses.
Renee: And I kept seeing different flashes of the fur.
Renee: And so then I got confirmation, it's a cheetah.
Renee: They're hunting their prey.
Renee: They got a bird nibbling on it.
Renee: There's a poof of the bird feather floating off in the distance.
Renee: And then we get back to the soldiers walking up the hill.
Renee: And the one at the front finally reaches the top of the hill and it sees the cheetah.
Renee: It shoots the cheetah, it takes the cheetah out.
Renee: Even though it's minding its own business, there was a misinterpretation from this lead guy who thought, oh, this is a predator.
Renee: It's going to come for us.
Renee: The loss of this cheetah is emblematic of, quote, the error of human ways.
Renee: And we shouldn't go where nature didn't intend, because it knocks the scales dangerously out of balance.
Renee: So I thought I was done with the reading here, and then I literally had like, wait, come through telling me there's more.
Renee: And I got a mantra, relinquish your swords.
Renee: In reflecting on this experience, again, from start to finish, and once I had my water, I was sitting in the chair all the way to when I could tell that the reading was complete.
Renee: It was almost exactly minutes on the dot.
Renee: Overall, I thought this was a really, really intriguing, mind-opening, slightly disorienting experience.
Renee: I felt like I was using my clairs differently.
Renee: For sure, would not have been able to do this without my years of already providing readings for people.
Renee: I kept thinking about the fact that I'm sitting in a dark room looking into a bowl, and in ancient times, they were just out in nature.
Renee: I mean, maybe some of them were at a certain point putting rainwater or something from a river in a bowl, but a lot of them, like the druids, they were just looking out at the water or looking down at the natural water that was in front of them, and how different that experience must be.
Renee: I'm like, if I feel like this is trippy, and I'm sitting on a couch in my living room with a bowl, then what's going on with these people looking out at a lake doing this for hours?
Renee: I did it for minutes.
Renee: What are your reactions, Christine?
Christine: Well, I'm very emotional today, so I got really sad about the cheetah.
Renee: I know.
Christine: What I first found interesting and I wrote it down so I wouldn't forget was that you had the ear ringing initially.
Christine: It's usually significant of you're getting a download or a heavy influx of information from Spirit.
Christine: I was like, oh wow, this is really happening?
Renee: Yeah.
Christine: I think it's also proof of the channel that you are, that you received such a deep message so quickly.
Christine: I knew you were going to get something.
Christine: This is your thing.
Christine: It's funny because as I was imagining you doing all of this, I was like, I think I would get really nauseous.
Christine: I think it's so cool.
Christine: I can't believe the level of detail that you got from a 20-minute session trying something new.
Christine: But I'm also not surprised because you're so good at what you do.
Water Divination as an Ancient Tool
Christine: Would you try this practice again?
Renee: When you ask that question, as I literally feel something like stirring inside of me, and I don't really know what that is.
Renee: What language that I'm getting as I'm trying to talk to you is like it's a practice that's supposed to be honored.
Renee: It feels like it's a really sacred thing.
Renee: I would have to be doing it really intentionally.
Renee: I don't even know if this is my opinion.
Renee: It feels like this is just what I am being told as we're sitting here talking.
Renee: It's not the same as I just pull a card every day.
Renee: There's a different quality to this because of how ancient it is.
Renee: I'm really glad to know that I can do it, and I was able to do it on the first try.
Renee: Yeah, I don't feel like you could do that all the time.
Renee: It felt weird.
Christine: I'm having trouble putting words to it too, but when I fall into my psychic space, it's interesting that nature came up in your reading because to me it feels like something like we lost this part of our knowledge as humans.
Renee: I'm getting that we've both done this before.
Christine: I wouldn't be surprised.
Christine: However, I am concerned about my motion sickness.
Renee: I mean, maybe, because this feels, again, like I'm talking about it, like this is like a past life thing, so I don't know exactly what your experience was, but it came in like, I've done it before, and then it's like, no, we've both done it before.
Renee: It doesn't feel like it means like that you should be trying this, knowing that like you tapped into this version of this ancient wisdom as well, and it's okay if you're moving on to different tools.
Renee: I don't know who's talking to us right now.
Renee: I don't know who this information is coming from, but it's like really clear.
Christine: It feels very old and ancient, and I will share with you this.
Christine: I forgot about this, but I did have a reading where I had a past life in Scotland as a hermit.
Renee: You could have been a druid.
Christine: I know.
Christine: That's what I'm thinking now.
Christine: Like, was I a druid?
Renee: Oh my gosh.
Christine: Yeah.
Scotland, Past Lives & Astrocartography
Renee: Going to Scotland is on my short list.
Christine: Mine too.
Christine: Stop, Renee.
Renee: I just, there's something about it.
Renee: Have you ever seen Outlander?
Christine: Of course I have.
Renee: I haven't.
Renee: Okay.
Renee: I'm behind.
Renee: I haven't seen the last few seasons.
Renee: Eventually I will catch up.
Renee: Anytime I hear or see anything in Scotland, I literally feel something viscerally.
Renee: I just feel like, oh, I have to go there.
Renee: I have to go there.
Renee: In the astro-cartography reading that I did January 2024, which we very briefly talked about on this podcast, I had asked her to specifically look over there to see if I have any lines through it.
Renee: And she said it was a positive line, going there if I don't have a job and want to start a new one or that I already enjoy the one that I have.
Renee: There's something about Jupiter conjunct Mars and scarring my MC.
Renee: So it's like my MC is like the career line.
Renee: The other thing was, fourth house Neptune, it could feel very dreamy and spiritual.
Renee: These little like sub lines, like minor lines.
Renee: And she said in Scotland, I have moon Chiron and node parents there, which indicates past life energy with synchronicities and lots of healing.
Renee: Christine.
Christine: I have a moon line going through there, just like you have moon stuff.
Christine: And I have a Neptune line going through there, just like you have Neptune stuff.
Christine: Okay.
Christine: We're going to have a retreat to Scotland because I think it's important for both of us.
Christine: Listeners, buy us several coffees so that we can go to Scotland together.
Christine: We will document the whole thing.
Christine: We need to go.
Renee: I love that we've discovered this today.
Renee: This feels really important that we're having this conversation because the fact that I had such a strong experience, and then in my retelling of it, I started having, as we are sitting here with our mics, having downloads to share with you.
Renee: This process is being observed and definitely supported.
Renee: The whole Scotland thing coming up and then checking my reading, straight up having past life energy there.
Renee: That makes worlds of sense.
Tasseomancy & Tea Leaf Readings
Christine: For our next mancy, we have tasseomancy or tasseography, but mainly it's known as tea leaf reading.
Christine: This weekend, I was talking to my grandma, and my dad was like, oh, grandma used to read tea leaves.
Christine: When we would get Chinese food, she would take the black tea and read our fortunes.
Renee: We were talking about ancestry a little bit for mine, and how interesting that you discovered a family connection to tea leaves.
Christine: Right?
Renee: My brain just goes to Harry Potter.
Christine: Oh my God.
Christine: Yes, Trelawney.
Christine: You're going to go through something difficult, but you're going to be happy about it.
Christine: Yeah.
Christine: More on tea leaf reading.
Christine: This is the practice of using loose leaf, steep tea, and hot water to interpret messages via the shapes and placement of those leaves after that tea has been drunk.
Christine: The etymology of the words tassiomancy or tassiography are derived from the French tasse and the Greek suffix graph for writing or mancy for definition.
Christine: This practice originated in China centuries ago.
Christine: One of the stories of its origins says that as a group of friends sat around chatting about their life and drinking a pot of tea, they realized that the tea leaves in the bottom of their cups reflected the topics of conversation.
Christine: Tea then eventually made its way west to India, Europe and the rest of the world, where tassiomancy also made its way into different cultures.
Christine: Fun fact, this also includes reading coffee, specifically Turkish coffee readings.
Christine: Tea leaf reading was a big hit during the Victorian era.
Christine: With the invention of tea bags, tea leaf reading unfortunately became less and less popular.
Christine: I'm excited we did this episode because I can't wait to have my friends over now for tea or bring tea over to their place and be the interesting friend who reads everyone's cups.
How to Do Tea Leaf Readings
Christine: How do we do this?
Christine: First, you'll need some supplies, which is loose leaf tea.
Christine: You don't want to use tea bags or cut open a tea bag because the tea in there is too tiny to see shapes.
Christine: Chinese black tea is recommended, but any loose leaf tea should be fine.
Christine: You need a cup, obviously, but it's recommended that the cup be white or light in color so that you can see the tea leaves, that it should have a big enough bottom so you can clearly see shapes or whether the tea leaves are close to the bottom, top or middle on the sides of the cup.
Christine: And lastly, you'll need hot water for steeping.
Christine: Add the tea leaves, about a teaspoon, to the cup and pour hot water over the top.
Christine: While the water is cooling, imagine sending your intentions and energy into the tea.
Christine: For example, if your intention is clarity or love, you're just going to want to focus on that one thing and imagine sending it into the cup.
Christine: You don't want to think, I'll just enjoy this glass of water.
Christine: Ironically, you want to put some intention behind it.
Christine: Once the tea is cool enough to drink, either you or the person being read, which is called the querent, should think about their questions while drinking the tea.
Christine: Remember to make your questions as specific as possible, because as with any intuitive practice, the more specific the question, the more specific the answer will be.
Christine: Once the drinker has drunk enough of the tea, that there's only a little left, maybe like a tablespoon, it's time to begin the swirling ritual.
Christine: Holding the handle of the cup with your left or non-dominant hand, have the querent or yourself, whoever you're reading, swirl the tea three times.
Christine: I have read left to right, clockwise and counterclockwise.
Christine: So my advice is to swirl it in the direction that feels most comfortable and most natural to you, for me that ended up being clockwise.
Christine: Still using your left or your non-dominant hand, you're slowly going to turn the cup upside down onto a saucer or just a dish.
Christine: You're going to leave the cup alone for a minute, I did set a timer to be exact, and then you're going to swirl the cup again three times before you turn the cup upright again with the handle facing south.
Christine: If you listen to our Feng Shui Episode number 4, you may already know where south is in your house, so just have your handle in the southern part of your home.
Christine: Now, you should see tea leaves stuck to the cup in a variety of shapes and clusters, and this is where the fun part begins.
Christine: We're going to interpret what we see.
Christine: Have fun with this and use your imagination.
Christine: You can't get this wrong.
Christine: If you see a dog in your cup, maybe a dog represents loyalty to you.
Christine: That's your book of knowledge to read from your own experiences.
Christine: Start reading the tea leaves in a clockwise direction from the handle going left.
Christine: The leaves closest to the handle or south indicate something happening at home.
Christine: If you think about an astrology chart, the fourth house, which represents home and family, is on the bottom of the chart.
Christine: Leaves on the opposite side, which would be the north side, can relate to things happening outside the home or external forces happening to you.
Christine: The rim represents the present, the middle sides, the near future, and the bottom of the cup is the far future.
Christine: Depending on the question, that can be timing, connection, or intensity, with the rim being most closest to you and the bottom of the cup being furthest away.
Christine: In the show notes, I've linked a document called Reading Tea Leaves written by a Highland Seer in 1881.
Christine: So funny we're talking about Scotland again, by the way.
Christine: It contains a really good list of symbols and their meanings and images of cups that you could practice with.
Christine: So before I even did this, I looked at the cup images in this document to see if I could see what the Highland Seer saw.
Christine's Experience with Tea Leaf Readings
Christine: And then I looked at my cup.
Christine: Here's what came up for me in my reading and how I read my cup.
Christine: They set an intention before setting an intention, but it's basically the speech I give to Spirit to call in help from my Spirit Guides and my Angels.
Christine: And if there's any low vibrational energy present, I ask them to leave.
Christine: I set my intention, which was clarity.
Christine: And I just imagined the word in my head going down to my heart and coming out of my heart as a beam of light into the cup.
Christine: My question was around specific job I want to get, which will help me support my business.
Christine: Will I get this role?
Christine: And if so, when?
Christine: I'm going to pull up a picture of the teacup, Renee, so that you can see it while we're talking.
Christine: But for the listener, if you want to follow along, as I described my teacup, you can either head to buymeacoffee.com.
Christine: Not only can you buy us a coffee there, but you can also see our posts that we put up after each episode.
Christine: If you are an Instagram person and you want to stick with that, either go to my Instagram page or Renee's, and you'll see a picture of the teacup.
Christine: And once you have that pulled up, resume listening to this episode and let's get started.
Christine: What I first noticed in the southern part of the cup is the crescent moon shape covering the home section.
Christine: It's like pretty thick, but it looks like a crescent moon like on its back.
Christine: In the middle of the cup, which is more the future, there's a tree with its roots connected to the moon.
Christine: Up the sides, which you can't see, I saw the letter M.
Christine: The crescent moon signifies prosperity and fortune.
Christine: The tree is also a lucky symbol and a sure indication of prosperity and happiness.
Christine: M is my family name, but it's also the first letter of the name of the person I would be working for.
Christine: So to me, this was confirmation at the total bottom of the cup.
Christine: There's a little heart.
Christine: So a heart signifies pleasure to come, and if it's surrounded by dots, then it's through money.
Christine: And I also saw at least three triangles.
Christine: They were very, very tiny, and triangles represent good luck and unexpected legacies.
Christine: So I'm like, okay, is this new job going to somehow help me in home life?
Christine: Heading west, I saw a bird in the clumps of tea, flying towards the northern side of the cup.
Christine: A bird is a lucky sign, and it's good luck if it's flying.
Christine: And I wrote, am I leaving the nest?
Christine: Across from home on the north side of the cup, this huge clump to me looks like a skyscraper building, which could be an office, but it also looks like a pine tree.
Christine: This building pine tree climbs from the bottom of the cup to the middle and little dots make it up to the rim.
Christine: It feels like it's going to be happening soon, and this is going to be relevant to my near and far future.
Christine: But a building symbolizes a removal of sorts.
Christine: A pine tree symbolizes continuous happiness, and since it's close to the middle and top of the cup, I feel like that's coming soon, which mausole to me.
Christine: I love that.
Christine: Then finally, we had east along the top rim of the cup, where I saw what looks like an angel dropping something.
Christine: Below that, towards the middle of the cup, it looks like a horse and a bird were talking to each other.
Christine: An angel represents good news and especially good fortune and love, which was not what I was asking about in this question.
Christine: Interesting that love came up because we also see a heart at the bottom of the cup.
Christine: A horse symbolizes desires fulfilled through a prosperous journey.
Christine: A bird at rest symbolizes a fortune journey.
Christine: Overall, looking at this cup, it sounds like I will get the job in the near future.
Christine: Stay tuned, listener.
Christine: It will send me on a bigger journey than I planned, leading to a prosperous home life and maybe even love.
Christine: Going back to having the astrology chart overlaid on this circle, the angels in the seventh house, which for the listeners is marriage and relationships and love.
Christine: Jupiter, once it moves into cancer, which is about the time this episode is airing, is going to be the planet of luck and expansion, is going to be transiting my seventh house.
Christine: Whether it comes true or not, we'll see.
Christine: This is a scientific experiment.
Christine: And I really want to keep practicing this.
Christine: So Renee, what do you think?
Tea Leaf Readings vs Water Divination
Renee: I'm fascinated by this tea leaf reading.
Renee: I see how in-depth you really can go with this.
Renee: Just to mention here, tasseomancy is considered an offshoot of hydromancy because it's relating to water.
Renee: However, you had a very clear distinction in the how-to that you use a white cup.
Renee: Whereas for the hydromancy, it was like, oh, using a dark bowl.
Renee: So you could move from one end to the other, but it would require you like pouring into something else, I think, from the skeptical perspective.
Renee: Is knowing that you swish the tea around, like how the tea separated like that would make sense with some centripetal force.
Renee: So I'm wondering if as you do this more and more, how different the formations are, specifically at the bottom where the tea is collecting.
Christine: Yes, my logical brain was fighting with that too, but I was also like, my imagination is seeing these signs.
Christine: Even the heart, you can see the heart, you know, like you can't deny that that's, so I don't know, it's interesting.
Christine: I didn't want to follow a script, like I did the rules of swirling and swishing and whatever, but when it came to reading, I was like, just let whatever pops in, pop in.
Christine: The things that my imagination saw, like I would do a double take and I wish someone was sitting next to me, so I could be like, do you also see an angel there?
Christine: Do you also see a tree?
Christine: I was just such a good time.
Renee: Mine was very cloaked hood in the middle of the night, very sacred, ancient feeling, completely different vibe.
Renee: Obviously, this is old and ancient as well.
Renee: But it lent itself actually to being in some ways more academic because you can have a book that gives you a bunch of different interpretations and look things up the same as you might for dreams.
Renee: When you were saying, well, I'm just going to let wherever my mind goes.
Renee: Well, that to me sounds like it's your intuition.
Renee: You were seeing things, but it felt like you were straddling the analytical and the woo at the same time and you were able to plant a foot in both of those realms throughout the entire session.
Renee: I'm curious how long were you sitting there staring at your cup of tea?
Christine: Knowing me, maybe it took an hour.
Christine: I overthink everything.
Christine: So, the thinking about what to use could have been minutes and the actual reading could have been .
Christine: Like, we don't know.
Christine: I will say the tea leaves started drying up.
Christine: So, there is like a time limit on it because once the tea leaves dry up, the image is not the same.
Common Questions About Psychic Readings
Christine: You know another question that I get a lot?
Christine: When I do readings, do they need to be done in person, or can I do them over video?
Renee: I do get this question, and then I'll tell people, well, I was literally trained to understand my intuition over Zoom calls.
Renee: What people will ask is, does it feel different, either for the read-ee or for me as the reader?
Renee: They're sitting a foot away from you, and you feel that they're staring at you, versus on a screen, they are staring at you, but you don't feel it as much?
Renee: That's the only difference.
Renee: Otherwise, the information comes in the same, the process is the same.
Christine: Yeah.
Christine: I also tell people, when I connect to your energy, I connect to your voice.
Christine: It doesn't matter if you're physically in front of me or on Zoom, or even if you've left me a voice memo, because I've done readings that way as well.
Renee: Yeah.
Renee: I also get that a lot with card readings.
Renee: There is a perception or misconception that oracle readings, tarot readings have to be done in person because they need to cut the deck or touch the cards or something.
Renee: I laugh when that question comes up because I'm like, oh no, that's not how my process works.
Renee: I've talked to enough psychics and other intuitives now, that I don't know anyone who reads cards in the way that I read them.
Renee: I intuitively select the cards as people are talking.
Renee: Similar to how you were describing the tea leaves.
Renee: Talking as the tea is being poured, as it's being mixed, you're infusing the energy.
Renee: That's how the cards work for me.
Renee: Then I am doing my psychic reading.
Renee: It's like I get a little hit in my brain.
Renee: Flip over the first card, it relates to what you're talking about.
Renee: I get all of the information in that way, so I never need anyone to ever touch the cards, which is why I can do them remotely.
Renee: I do them remotely literally every single week in my Insight Timer classes.
Christine: I think remotely it's actually easier for the person being read as well.
Christine: You don't have to get up and go somewhere, you just log on.
Christine: Listeners, if you're curious about a reading, but you felt like you always had to have one in person, another great way to support the podcast is to book a reading with either myself or Renee, and see what a virtual reading is like for yourself.
Renee: If you would like to book readings with either or both of us, you can head to the show notes and find my website where you can book psychic readings, so with or without cards or writing questions, as well as natal astrology readings and more.
Renee: And you can also go to the link for Christine services and schedule an intuitive reading or human design reading.
Chiromancy, Palmistry & Palm Readings
Renee: The next mancy, I will be covering it, chiromancy, also known as palmistry.
Renee: To break this word down a little bit, the chiro-cure part means hand.
Renee: And mancy obviously is divination, as Christine mentioned earlier.
Renee: Palmistry is the art of divining future and personal characteristics by assessing the lines, texture and dexterity of the palms, fingers and nails as well as sensations intuited from holding people's hands.
Renee: It originated in India and spread to China amongst other nations around the world.
Renee: It was thought to be kept alive by the Romani people in Europe when it seemed like it was dying out.
Renee: One thing to think about here is the fact that we have fingerprints framed as a marker of your identity.
Renee: The origin of that stems from palmistry.
Renee: That was such a lightbulb.
Renee: I loved when I read that.
Renee: That's where that idea would have come from.
Renee: Looking at your hands and it means something about you and your hands are different than somebody else's hands.
Christine: Does it make you wonder why they chose hands instead of feet, but like no one wants to see your feet anyway and get back to business?
Renee: In the resources that I read, I was curious to see if somebody was going to bring up feet.
Christine: Yeah.
Renee: Nobody did.
Renee: I didn't specifically search for it.
Renee: It's like, oh, could you do palmistry?
Renee: I mean, it wouldn't be palm, it would be called something else for diamancy or something.
Renee: I don't know.
Renee: I didn't search for that, but I was curious.
Renee: To cover the basics here, palmistry is really, really complex.
Renee: When I was preparing for this episode, I was discovering this to be true.
Renee: There is a podcast mini-series in the Moon Matters podcast, so I'll link that in the show notes.
Renee: That's a great starting place if you want to continue learning about this divination tool after I finish covering it now.
Dominant vs Non-Dominant Hands in Palm Readings
Renee: Some of the basics for palmistry are understanding the dominant versus non-dominant hand.
Renee: You would look at your dominant hand to understand your life experiences, versus your non-dominant hand is your initial state of being and baseline.
Renee: Think about it like this.
Renee: You have wear and tear that is happening based on the things that you were doing in your day-to-day, and more of that impact will happen on your dominant hand.
Renee: That's why the non-dominant is considered a baseline.
Renee: The caveat, if you are ambidextrous, what a reader will do is ask you about what you tend to use each hand for, and then be able to parse out the interpretations for your life experiences based on that.
Renee: You're not excluded from this conversation if you're ambidextrous.
Christine: For most of my life, I'm pretty sure I'm ambidextrous and it all started back in gymnastics.
Christine: But anything physicality-related, where I didn't have to think about using my right hand, I always use my left.
Christine: I think I might be ambidextrous, which I would definitely go to an expert for a palm reading because I don't know which is my dominant hand.
Christine: But I'm glad that we're not left out.
Renee: You can look at all things like how high or low set are the fingers to each other.
Renee: Does the tip of one finger pass a certain knuckle of another finger?
Renee: What's the shape of the actual fingerprints?
Renee: Because that has symbolism on it as well.
Renee: And there's also minor lines too.
Renee: Do you have it at all?
Renee: What's the design of it?
Renee: Is it steady?
Renee: Is it solid?
Renee: Is it deep?
Renee: Is it chained?
Renee: Is it broken?
Renee: Does it touch other lines?
Renee: When it intersects, it could suggest like, oh, when you have your Saturn return because of this intersection here with the Saturn line, that it means you become a totally different person afterwards.
Renee: Or it means you stay pretty much the same.
Christine: Wow.
Palmistry & Astrology
Renee: There is said, as I mentioned earlier, to be a connection between hand structure and the natal chart.
Renee: I was very, very excited to learn this.
Renee: There are lines for Saturn, Apollo, the Sun, and Mercury.
Renee: Not everyone has these or every line.
Renee: Additionally, there are mounts on the palm, which are lumps in different areas that correspond to each of the traditional planets.
Renee: Your fingers are associated with planets too.
Renee: I've picked one example of a mount and one example of a finger to contextualize here.
Renee: The Jupiter mount is just below your index finger.
Renee: It represents your drive, self-esteem, spirituality, partnerships, overindulgence, and how you conduct yourself in social situations.
Renee: For mounts, what you're looking for is how raised, how prominent, how flat are their markings on them.
Renee: The Saturn finger is actually the middle finger, which is so hilarious if you know anything about Saturn.
Renee: So that really made me crack up.
Renee: If it's crooked, then it likely has a very strong influence in your life.
Renee: And I definitely have a crook in both of my middle fingers.
Renee: The one on my left hand leans a little bit left, and the one on my right hand, which is my dominant hand, leans even more so to the right.
Christine: I am so obsessed.
Christine: Saturn is a planet of boundaries and truly does not give an F what you think.
Christine: It's going to teach you your lesson.
Christine: So giving the middle finger has so much more depth for me now.
Christine: So thank you for that.
Christine: And also, my middle finger is straight, which is interesting because my chart is ruled by Saturn.
Christine: I'm a Capricorn rising.
Christine: I have a Capricorn moon.
Christine: Saturn is squaring a bunch of my personal planets.
Christine: Like I have a very Saturnian influence, so I'm surprised my middle finger is straight.
Renee: What I wonder is if it means it impacts me in more of a arc of my life way.
Renee: Where for you, it's like it's infused in your energy.
Renee: It's driving your life.
Renee: Where for me, it's not driving my life, but it is having an influence on it.
Christine: That's really interesting.

Outro
Renee: As well as the ancient– is it celts? I see that and think "Celtics"
Christine: Oh!
Renee: But it's probably because it's supposed to be Celtic
Christine: Yes
Renee: But then we call the team the wrong name, so my brain short-circuits and I go "is it celts? because I think it's celts." But then my brain, I wanna say seltz.
Christine: It's like you're trying to say seltzer
Renee: Ancient Seltz. The bubbling brook, in Scotland.
